Real-time feedback is the ability to proactively ask for feedback to celebrate, learn, and improve whenever you feel like there's a good moment for it. 

Instead of waiting to receive feedback during scheduled performance reviews, you can ask for feedback immediately after meetings, presentations or other important work-related events.

1. Request form

You can ask for feedback anytime from your colleagues. 

Click the blue "Ask for feedback" button under your name in the lower left corner.

You can also ask for feedback on a specific goal, and pre-fill the content of the Ask for feedback form with questions about your goal.

From the goal page of the goal you would like to receive feedback on, click the button in the upper righthand corner of the screen, "Ask for feedback."

2. Title & Context

Give your feedback request a title (1) and provide some context for your colleagues (2) in the two boxes shown below. Choose a title that lets your colleagues know what you are asking for. For example, you can include the name of a project or a subject of a meeting you just had, like 'Project Orange check-in'

Your request's context should clarify what you would like to get feedback on. Ideally, it should include the following:

  • what you hope to get out of this feedback request (e.g. "I am hoping to get some feedback on my recent presentation");
  • how this feedback will help you in the future (e.g. "I would like to hear your thoughts in order to improve my presentations in the future");
  • if and how you will follow up on the feedback received (e.g. "I will use this feedback to inform my manager in the 1-on-1 meeting this month"):

3. Topics

Choose the topics which your colleagues will be asked to rate and give you feedback on. You can include topics from the Competency Library of your organization, custom topics, or both.

Tip: Real-time feedback requests are meant to be short check-ins done frequently, so we suggest choosing three to four skills at most.

3.1. Competency Library topics

Click the button

Clicking the three lines as shown below will open the skill selector. There you may find all the skills and competencies your organization has stored in Impraise.

3.2 Custom topics

By clicking the 'Get feedback about' box, you can type in a question or topic of your personal preference.

3.3 Response preferences

Impraise allows you to choose how the topics in your request should be answered. Once you have selected a topic, click on it and choose from the options in the pop-up:

Note: the Rating scale and the anonymity of the feedback you'll receive are set per organization. The rating scale available to you might be different than the one shown on the image.

4. Adding requestees

Click on the "Get feedback from" field and type in the names of your colleagues that you would like feedback from. 

Remember to select people you have been worked with closely so they would give you a meaningful feedback.

Tip: you cannot add new people to an existing feedback request once it has been sent so choose your colleagues carefully!

5. Finish and send

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Ask for feedback". Notifications about the request will be automatically sent to your colleagues!

Once people have given you feedback, you can see your feedback in a feedback report.
